Last month I was quoted by Alison Coleman for her piece in The Raconteur, a pull out in The Times newspaper about working in the cloud.
Alison wrote an interesting piece about how businesses can benefit from being guided by cloud brokers; how they can help firms achieve solutions tailored to their needs.
The following is an extract from her article:
Matthew Finnie, chief technology officer of Interoute, which operates Europe’s largest cloud platform, believes that cloud brokers represent the next stage in the cloud’s evolution. “Instead of buying kit, you’re paying someone to buy it and put it together for you,” he says. “The delivery model is immediate; the opportunities for businesses and for cloud service providers will be amazing.”
As the article states, cloud technology can confuse many firms, especially those not particularly technically minded. There is a lot of choice and deciding what you need, and just as importantly what you don’t need, can be a difficulty for many. This is where cloud brokers can help. As Doug Clark of IBM is quoted as saying, “Cloud brokerage takes away complexity for the end client”. By partnering with service providers, brokers can integrate kit so it does what they need it to. Not only does this provide a service perfectly tailored to the firm’s needs, it can also be financially beneficial.
